You App Sucks!
Sour Grapes: OK, I’ll admit it, I’m one of those Android guys that posts “DROID” every time one of my iPhone friends is talking about having a problem with their phones (yeah. I’m that guy). And as a (former) photographer I hear all the griping in the photo world about how Instagram and cell phones “Are not Photography”, which I do not agree with*, they just empower people to make shitty photos look pretty. ..any way, before Instagram came out for Android I decided to make my own from one of the old cameras we have in our study (see above).
Let Down: So after all the hype and people telling me how cool Instagram is, it finally came out for Android. I used it for a few days, but just wanted to use the filters, I had no interest in uploading the pictures to their site or Facebook and it would not do Flickr, so I deleted it. I guess I’ll go back to my digital camera/Argoflex rig if I want to get that look..
*Side bar: It’s about the photographer, not the image capturing device, in the same way that writing with a fountain pen in no more of a legitimate way to write a book (to me) than a laptop is, and the final product can be indistinguishable.
