Milk Made
Yeah, the boy can’t get enough milk.  So when we went to the Atlanta Children’s Museum and he noticed the “milk a cow” display he figured that he better go to the source.

..till Mommy Gets Back?
Really? Yesterday I was at our favorite baby store (New Baby Products) and they were having a clearance sale on old stock.  I noticed several copies of this book at the bottom of a box filled with bottle parts and nursing capes. The title made me throw up a little in my mouth “Keeping You Toddler on Track till Mommy Gets Home”.  Then I started to focus in on the cover art: Daddy...

Watching your kids.. there is no app for that!
The sitting area at a local indoor playground (HippoHopp) Yesterday my SAHD group went to HippoHopp, a local indoor playground with inflatable bouncy castles and playground equipment that fills a large warehouse space.  It’s a really fun place for the kids to bounce, run and play to their heart’s content, sans Atlanta summer heat and mosquitoes. However, today I had a problem.  A...

Note from an old friend about my blog
From a friend I’ve known for almost 20 years: Hey, I’ve been following your blog since you told me about it, it’s been a fun read.  What I most like (aside from the amusing stuff like six broken water fountains) is how well it expresses your interest and joy in being a good father.  Most often when I hear of someone having a child I’m actually a bit sorry to hear it, as...

Parking Spaced
Our Jetta TDI Sportwagen all the way to the right of the picture Yesterday I’m backing into a parking space at Manuel’s Tavern for lunch with my boy and as I  look in the my side mirrors to check how well I’m in the space (being a bit of a parking perfectionist) it looks like I’m about 2’ from the yellow stripe.  After some surprise that I could have parked so...

A love letter to food (1st time Varsity edition)
Dear Food,  I love you.  -Daddy (and son) Eating his first chili dog at the Varsity What’ll Ya Have? What’ll Ya Have?  Odds are if you have the Food Channel or have ever been to Atlanta (or GA for that matter) you have heard of The Varsity. It’s a 1950’s style fast food burger and dog kind of restaurant that still features curb service with car hops.  Everyone in GA...

Story Time (solo)
I was awfully quite in my 17 month old son’s room yesterday so I poked my head in to see what he was up to.  Much to my amazement he had scaled the chair that he and his Mom read in each night before bedtime and was “reading” a book by himself. It was one of those magic moments as a stay at home dad that stop time and make you feel like everything is going to be OK in the world.

Who will my daughter be?
Cokie Roberts -OR- Yo-Landi Vi$$er It’s a girl: Words that brought instant joy and fear into my heart.  First of all, my side of the family is about 97% male going back 3 generations, and we already had a son so we figured we would get another.  In fact, my wife and I (and our family) all knew it was such a forgone conclusion that it was going to be another boy that we referenced...

D-E-V-O-R-C-E
I took this picture on our way through Kentucky last week, and it looks like his ex-wife got the kids and he got the car.. and the rest of the Alumni plate frame. What’s worse, driving you ex-wife’s old minivan or having to be reminded every time you walk behind it that she also took your dog? (OUCH)

..but not a drop to drink: Part 2
An (unnamed) friend of mine sent me this picture from the Lowes HQ after reading my post about the ridiculous number of drinking fountains in the Atlanta store, none of which were working in the 100+ heat, and I almost feel off my chair. Apparently who ever has the drinking fountain contract with Lowes is one hell of a salesperson.  I mean, I get 2 drinking fountains, maybe even 3 in a big...

Ghetto Garage
If you are like me and you live in a bad part of town, have vehicles that you are always working on and a garage that faces a major (pedestrian) thoroughfare where leaving the garage door open would expose your tools/contents to shady individuals, might I suggest this awesome “emissions diverter”? My wife thought I was joking when she stopped me walking out of the house with some...

Chairtrooper
As a woodworker, designer and Star Wars nerd I am always getting emails from my friends of cool woodworking projects, cleverly designed products or nerdy Star Wars fans.  Seldom do they all get rolled up in one picture like we have here. Tip of the helmet to the person behind this sweet deck chair, thanks for the wood/design/SW hat trick!

DIY: Cooking "Smeeps"
In that time after Easter when you can pick up Peeps for huge discounts we like to add them to our menu as much as possible. And nothing pleases a pregnant lady like freshly made Smores.. unless they are made with Peeps! I give you Smeeps!

A love letter to food (breakfast edition)
Dear Breakfast, I love you. -Daddy (and son) First breakfast out at our favorite, The Silver Skillet Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  You have to get things started with the fuel to launch you into the world and keep you energized (until lunch time).  If you read my post about introducing my son to a variety of food then you know that I understand that...

Seedbombs: Throw+Grow!
I can remember when we got done shopping and it was always fum to look in the bubble gum machines.  With the Seedbombs Throw+Grow! I’m not sure if that makes it a huge let down or even more fun to go home and grow something? Apparently “Gorilla Gardening” is a thing now.  Hmm.. some pretty cool delivery systems found here.

Toy Thursday Review: Blabla Classic Dolls
My son with his Blabla classic mini-doll “McNutty” My wife and I first found out about BlaBla Kids because the main office, design office and showroom are next to one of our friend’s shops in the Virgina-Highland neighborhood of Atlanta.  The first thing we noticed is that the store front is always beautiful, as is the showroom, both of which are continuations of the...

Featuring 2 Hot Songs
The “Brush Buddies Justin Bieber Singing Toothbrush” is a possible glimpse into my future of both horrible music and horrible products in my house.  One can only hope that my kids lean more toward a “classic” rap or possibly, in this case, don’t brush their teeth.
