Review: Awesome Brother In-Laws
You don’t get to pick your family: It pretty much goes without saying that my wife is AWESOME, and anyone that talks to her can tell right away, so when I was set to meet her family for the first time at her sister’s wedding I wasn’t sure what to expect. She is the oldest of 4, and I’d heard some pretty funny/weird stories about them over the 6 months that we had been...

Saying goodbye, a year later..
My First Dog: When I was a kid we lived in the country, so I was always around animals, but because of my Mom’s schedule and our financial situation I never had any house pets. For some reason this never seemed odd, and because so many people I know had pets I was never lacking in enjoying them. So it wasn’t until the summer after I graduated from college that I was living on my...

You App Sucks!
Sour Grapes: OK, I’ll admit it, I’m one of those Android guys that posts “DROID” every time one of my iPhone friends is talking about having a problem with their phones (yeah. I’m that guy). And as a (former) photographer I hear all the griping in the photo world about how Instagram and cell phones “Are not Photography”, which I do not agree with*, they...

Judge me by my size, do you?
And well you should not: Apparently I’m not the only Dad that can’t wait to introduce Star Wars to their kid.

Han Shot First: As a new Dad I had a Top 10 List of things that I could not wait to introduce my son to, and you guest it, Star Wars was at the top of that list. And these days that it a dangerous proposition with Episode 1-3 hanging out there and all the crap marketing to support it. ..but it’s a risk I’m willing to take, because the pay off is SO big. Not to mention the thought...

Makin' our way, the only way we know how..
Situation: While out with my SAHDs group this week and taking the elevator in the parking deck the question was asked “Do you want to push the button son?” (and of course he wants to push the button).
Problem: How to quickly elevate a child seated in a stroller to button pushing height with the least amount of fuss?
Answer: Lift the entire stroller with the kid in to, duh!

No Children in Basket
Funny because it’s true: While at our local Home Depot this weekend I was struck by this sign on the “Courtesy Rascals” (or whatever they are really called) but then thought, I’m sure that these signs are on here because they had legal issues with someone’s kids getting hurt falling out of one of these carts. Then it went from being kind of funny, to a double dose...

When you know you married the right woman
Like 2 peas: You know that you married the right woman when she finds out that she is pregnant and rather than cancelling on Dragon*Con she changes from a more reveling Wonder Woman costume to a Hanson Brother (complete with foiled knuckles) and helps wrangle you through the crowd in the Comic Book Store Guy costume you made and keeps your drink full all night.
Love you babe!

Taco Bell's "Doritos Locos Taco"
Two great tastes that taste great together (sort of): I’ve been making nachos using Doritos since way back in my college days and they taste GREAT! So I was pretty excited for the latest “Dare Food” (as my wife calls them) from Taco Bell. And what we have here is a Beef Taco Supreme with the taco shell treated with a coating of the Doritos’ flavoring, so I was...

The List: Strollers
And the Winner is: After ordering the Rumbleseat for our UPPAbaby Vista and pushing our son around the house it struck us that his view of the world was the back of the main seat. This is not how we want him to engage in the world, and we do spend a fair amount of time out in the world using the stroller. So we opted to sell it on Craigslist and are buying a baby jogger city select double.

DIY: Changing Area
Things are Changing: One of the many (MANY) things that changed around our house with the coming of the boy was the need for a changing table. We live in a ’20s bungalow and have a lot of vintage furniture, so when we started looking at changing tables in stores we were a bit horrified by not only the cost, but by how ugly they were.
Old is the new “new”: After a lot of...
